PV board to place levy on November ballot
ANDOVER —
The Pymatuning Valley Local Board of Education recently passed a resolution to place an “emergency renewal levy” before voters in November.
The renewal levy will be five mills, which would generate $809,739 per year for five years for the district, said Pat Smith, school board treasurer. The money generated by the levy would be used to pay for general operating costs.
“The old levy expired in 2009. By putting a levy on the ballot in November 2010, we will be able to have our first collection in 2011,” Smith said.
The yearly amount of money generated by this levy has always been $809,739, but today it will take less millage than in the past to generate that same amount.
“In 2005, when this levy was first put on the ballot, it was 6.99 mills, but because Pierpont Township is now part of the district, it will only take 5 mills to generate the same amount of money,” Smith said.
“This is good news for the people in our district.”
