An Ashtabula man is facing drug charges after a six-month investigation into heroin trafficking spearheaded by multiple law enforcement agencies, said Detective Greg Leonhard of the TAG Law Enforcement group.
Police served a search warrant at a Woodman Avenue apartment Monday and found Victor Casbohm, 27, who was wanted on warrants unrelated to the drug investigation. Also in the apartment was heroin, marijuana, prescription medication, drug paraphernalia and $1,200 in cash, Leonhard said.
The amount of cash indicates drug transactions had occurred at the premises Sunday night or Monday, he said. Four other people were in the apartment at the time, and drug charges are pending against two of them, Leonhard said.
Joining TAG in the investigation were the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office and the city of Ashtabula Police Department, Leonhard said.
Additional charges could be filed against Casbohm once the identity of the substances found in the apartment is confirmed by laboratory testing, Leonhard said. Casbohm was taken into custody on the unrelated warrants and is being held at the Ashtabula County Jail, Leonhard said.
