Bullying — we read about it, we talk to our kids about it, sometimes we just don't know what to say or do. On Feb. 13 Jerry Ackerman (or as he calls himself "The Bully Defender") will be presenting assemblies in the Perry High School Goodwin Theatre to elementary, middle and high school students and parents.
Ackerman challenges kids not only to make a difference, but "be the difference." His presentation will help students understand bullying and their role to stop bullying in their school by: defining bullying in a way students understand; participating in a Bully Defender exercise (guaranteed to get students ready to end bullying in their school); teaching the 3 R's: Remove, Report, and Reach, plus humorous stories, group participation and practical teaching.
In addition to the school assemblies, Ackerman will be presenting to parents on the evening of Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Goodwin Theatre.
Based on last year's Search Institute Survey, students really want their parents more involved in school. Here's a great opportunity to learn some important skills on how to support and guide children. This presentation to parents is sponsored and funded by Perry Positive PTA.
