As they wake up this morning, area residents can expect a blast from the past with snow and temperatures hovering in the high teens. That’s a 40-to-50-degree drop from what the thermonmeter read Wednesday morning.
While snow flurries are in the forecast for northeast Ohio, meteorologist John Mayers from the National
Weather Service in Cleveland, said the winds will shift from west to northwest, bringing up to a foot of lake-effect snow to the snow belt.
“Winter returns and that’s means snow to Ashtabula County,” he said. “The heaviest snow is expected (today).”
The Lake Effect Snow Watch warns of wind gusts up to 35 mph, wind chills near zero and poor visiblity along the lakeshore, especially along the I-90 corridor.
Today: Snow! Snow accumulation up to 1 foot. Blustery and much cooler with highs in the upper 20s. West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of snow 100 percent.
Tonight: Snow showers. Lows around 15. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Wind chill values as low as zero.
Friday: Lingering snow showers. Highs around 20. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Wind chill values as low as 1 below.
