CONNEAUT —
A family fracas over the weekend landed a mother and son in jail, police said.
Charges are pending against a 23-year-old man and his 41-year-old mother, arrested during the same altercation early Friday morning on Grant Street, according to reports.
Officers were dispatched to the address around 3:27 a.m., and were told a man upstairs was “going crazy.” Police said the man, who was intoxicated, was “extremely violent and agitated,” peppered officers with obscenities and threats.
While the man was being handcuffed, his mother — who was also drunk — confronted officers and began screaming at officers, ignoring their warnings to calm down. Other people inside the house then spilled into the street, screaming and yelling at each other, officers said.
The man and his mother were taken to jail in separate vehicles, police said. The man continued his tirade inside the cruiser, and at one point began kicking the cage that separates the front and back seats.
The woman waited in the police station’s sally port while her son was booked, officers said. The man, upon learning his mother was also arrested, mocked her as she waited her turn in the booking room, officers said.
