SHERIFF

• A chase down a gravel road in Sheffield Township on Saturday afternoon eventually led deputies to a 28-year-old Madison woman wanted on a felony warrant, according to reports. The incident began when a deputy attempted a traffic stop on Brown Road and the driver failed to comply with the officer’s signals. The driver turned onto a gravel road that led to a mud trail, which the suspect continued on in the pickup truck. The deputy was unable to pursue the vehicle, which had a male passenger in it. A motorist on Brown Road advised the deputy that the mud trail terminated on Plymouth Gageville Road and the deputy followed that lead, the report stated. The passenger in the pickup was located on Brown Road by another deputy. The truck also was located, but not the driver. The passenger led deputies to the Madison woman in a Sheffield Township house. Another woman there said she was afraid to identify the driver of the vehicle that the deputy was chasing because he had boasted of just “killing a man.” Deputies did get an identity on the 42-year-old Conneaut man, who faces a charge of failure to comply with a lawful order or signal, according to the report.
• A dispute in the Edgewood Trailer Court is under review for charges, according to a report. The dispute occurred Sunday evening and involved a 44-year-old Ashtabula Township man and 48-year-old Ashtabula man. The Ashtabula man told dispatch that he had assaulted the trailer court resident, whom he accused of striking his vehicle. The deputy could not find any damage on the two vehicles but the trailer court resident was bleeding from a cut on his head, according to the report.
• A 26-year-old Rome Township woman reported phone threats from her estranged husband Monday. The 26-year-old suspect, who was charged with domestic violence, threatened to “shoot her in the head.” The woman told the deputy that she was fearful because he had assaulted her in the past.
• A Rock Creek man discovered Saturday that his four-wheel all terrain vehicle had been stolen between midnight and 5 a.m. Valued at $3,000, the ATV is a 2007 model and blue in color.

• A man was cited at 4900 Main Ave. for having an open container in a public place at 1:21 p.m. Sunday.
• A report of an injured animal was received from residents at Ohio Avenue and West 29th Street at 7:20 p.m. Sunday.
• A man was arrested for stealing beer at 1714 W. 19th St. at 8 p.m. Sunday.
• Police were called to handle a psychiatric incident on West 54th Street at 9:19 p.m. Sunday.
• An assault occurred in the 2000 block of Oriole Drive at 9:25 p.m. Sunday.
• A report of menacing was received in the 1100 block of Columbus Avenue at 10:04 p.m. Sunday.
• Shots were fired in the West 52nd Street neighborhood at 10:20 p.m. Sunday.
• A juvenile was arrested for violating curfew in the 4800 block of Gary Avenue at 12:39 a.m. Monday.
• A caller reported an unwanted guest in the 900 block of West 38th Street at 7:37 a.m. Monday.
• A bicycle was stolen overnight and reported missing from a shed at 5119 Summer Ave. at 1:14 p.m. Monday.
• Domestic violence was reported at 5133 Adams Ave. at 3:11 p.m. Monday.
• A bicycle was reported stolen from a garage at 1729 E. 48th St. at 3:15 p.m. Monday.
• Vandalism to a vehicle while parked in the 1200 block of West 47th Street was reported at 3:33 p.m. Monday.
• Attempted arson was reported at 1648 West Third St. at 4:37 p.m. Monday.
• An unwanted guest was reported at 1626 West Prospect Road at 6:22 p.m. Monday.
• Drug abuse was reported at 4629 Topper Ave. at 6:31 p.m. Monday.
• Police were called to the emergency room at Ashtabula County Medical Center at 6:50 p.m. Monday because a boy was shot in the leg with a BB gun.
• A disturbance was reported at 502 W. 36th St. at 7:08 p.m. Monday. The caller said someone was shooting or throwing missiles.
• A burglary was reported at 5301 Jefferson Ave. at 1:01 a.m. Tuesday.
