People, firms win GP awards

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County featured 16 businesses, organization and individuals for their contributions to the county during the 24th annual Best of the County Awards on Tuesday at Spire Institute.

“While just one night out of the year, it is important we take time out to acknowledge those doing fantastic things to help our community grow,” Growth Partnership director Brian Anderson said. “This year’s group of award winners and finalists also demonstrates the diversity of our local economy and that Ashtabula County has much to be proud of and look forward to in the future." Award winners and finalists highlighted:

Lifetime Achievement Award Winner — Steve Walling, former president & CEO, Plasticolors

Walking was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award based on his leadership of Plasticolors from 1995 until his recent retirement and his support of numerous non-profit and economic development initiatives in Ashtabula County and Northeast Ohio.

Business Excellence Awards

Businesses with fewer than 50 employees winner: Apple Heating and Cooling Finalists: Austinburg Veterinary Clinic, White Turkey

Businesses with 50-150 employees winner: The Andover Bank

Finalists: Future Controls/Titan Aircraft, Gabriel Performance Products

Businesses with more than 150 employees winner: Chromaflo Technologies

Finalists: Glenbeigh, The Composites Group:

The George H. Kaull Award for Entrepreneurship: The Lakehouse Inn and Winery

Finalists: Ron Marchewka, Donniella Winchell

Community Impact Award: LEADERship Ashtabula County

Finalists: Friends of the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Park, Hospice of the Western Reserve
