The Chagrin Falls man who slammed his truck into a car at a traffic light has been charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence and aggravated vehicular assault, Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Chad Bass said.
Jackson Leonetti, 21, was driving on Washington Street in Auburn Township at 2:57 a.m. on Sunday when he crashed his 2002 Chevrolet Blazer into the rear of Kelley McCutchen’s 2001 Dodge Stratus.
McCutchen, 29, also of Chagrin Falls, was seriously injured in the crash, OHP reports, and was taken to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center by medical helicopter where she remains in stable condition, Bass said Monday.
Though they had visible wounds, Leonetti and his passenger refused medical treatment at the scene, Bass said, and Leonetti was arrested at the scene for suspicion of OVI, Bass said.
McCutchen’s car was totaled and Leonetti’s car sustained “disabling damage,” Bass said.
Leonetti was arraigned in Geauga County Common Pleas Court on Monday, Bass said, and OHP is awaiting the results of Leonetti’s blood alcohol test.
“The aggravated vehicular assault charge was added due to Ms. McCutchen’s severe injuries and the suspected presence of alcohol or illegal narcotics on Mr. Leonetti,” Bass said.
The crash is under investigation and additional charges could be filed, Bass said.
