Big crowds on hand for local Rib Burn-off

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — Once the sky cleared Friday, crowds gathered and enjoyed lots of barbecued ribs at the weekend’s Rib Burn-off held at Lake Shore Park.

“It was another fantastic weekend,” said Mike Wayman, chairman of the Ashtabula Township Park Commission. “Friday afternoon gave us a little scare with the weather, but by 4 p.m., the skies cleared and the sun came out. I can't believe how many people came out after the rain stopped.”

Mother Nature shined on Saturday and Sunday, as well, and people stood shoulder-to-shoulder throughout the remainder of weekend at Lake Shore Park.

“Our hats go off to (the park’s activities organizer) Lori Zebrasky,” Wayman said. “She made our 10th year one to remember; she pulled this off basically by herself.”

The shining star of the event was Sunday’s classic car show.

It was the most successful show of any car show ever held at the park, with more than 450 classic cars, thanks to Lake Shore Cruisers, Wayman said.
