Last Fall the voters in our area sent a message to the members of the Board of Education: "No Levy!" Does the Board respect the directives of the citizenry?
Obviously not. So they repeat the same old trick they've pulled before. They put the levy on a ballot in the middle of summer when voter participation is notoriously low, haul "levy friendly" people to the voting places, pass the levy by a few votes, thumb noses at the citizens, and continue business as usual in our schools.
Let's get real, our schools are failing! Is it wise to pump money into a system which fails to serve the real needs of many of our students, our families, our community? We need a real, up-to-date and honest "vision" for our schools not the same old - same old.
Please consider sending another message with your "NO" vote on Aug. 7 to those responsible for our schools: "No more same old - same old policies! We have tight budgets, too, and we manage. Do the same!"
I invite fellow citizens to check out these research-based websites for a quick look at why we're in the mess we're in and how we might acquire a vision fit to start to fix our failing schools. Please VOTE NO on this issue. Do our kids a real favor!
