I would like to thank the citizens of Geauga County for allowing me to serve at the Geauga County Board of Elections for the past 20 years. I am proud to have held various positions there, from office staff to deputy director and finally, for the last nine years, as director.
I especially wish to thank the past board members, office staff, elected officials, candidates and the thousands of poll workers who worked alongside me to make Geauga County’s election process run in a credible and efficient manner. Contrary to what a select few have said, our office ran excellent elections during a time when numerous changes were made to the election process.
Recently Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted was called upon to break the stalemate among the Election Board members regarding the appointment of the deputy director. Unfortunately, despite my vast knowledge and years of training and experience, his tie-breaking vote was in support of a person, recommended by the Democratic board members, with no election knowledge or experience.
Therefore I am off to pursue other avenues at this time in my career. I urge all public officials and the citizens of the great Geauga County to be vigilant and to actively support the board members and office staff that believe in and manage the bi-partisan system. They will need your help and support.

Your editorial in the July 28 Opine section of the Star Beacon in regard to slow drivers causing accidents, while praising fast drivers, really pulled my chain, so to speak.
