CHERRY VALLEY TOWNSHIP — Gladys M. Blankenship, age 82, of Sentinel Road, Cherry Valley Township, died early Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, 2012, at her residence.
Born Nov. 10, 1930, in Panther, W.Va., she was the daughter of Andrew and Bertha (Harless) Stacy and had lived in this area since 1963, coming from Cleveland. She was married to Theodore Blankenship on July 5, 1949, in Panther, W.Va.
She retired from the Pymatuning Valley School System. Mrs. Blankenship attended the Andover Baptist Church and the Cherry Valley Church of God, she was active with the Southern Baptist Women’s Missionary Society and did much home missionary work. She enjoyed traveling and was active with the Pymatuning Valley School District.
Survivors include three daughters, Shari L. Shevetz of Troutville, Va., Sandra L. (Jim) Phegley of Hurst, Texas and Stacy L. Blankenship-Gould of Cherry Valley Township, whom lived and lovingly cared for her mother; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Roberts of Kissimmee, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore; a son-in-law, John Shevetz; brothers, Clyde and Denver Stacy; and sisters, Ruby Roberts and Clara Jean Birchfield.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15th, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Gary Morrison, of Cherry Valley Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until time of Service, Saturday, at the Funeral Home.
