ROME TOWNSHIP —  John B. Mraz, age 61, a resident of Rome Township, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at his home.

He was born Oct. 20, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Marie (Telich) Kampf and Carl Mraz.  He was a lifelong resident of Rome Township and spent the winter months in Palm Harbor, Fla., where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a 1961 graduate of Grand Valley High School.

Following graduation, he worked as an iron worker, then for Lyden Oil Co. for 22 years. He also owned and operated Mraz Trucking.

He was an avid drag racing fan, having raced at Thompson Drag Raceway with his two friends, Mike White and Richard Wilkerson. He also enjoyed taking his 1955 Chevy to car shows.

He is survived by a daughter, Renee (Roberto) Mraz-Matta of Lynn, Mass.; a grandson, Jose’ Mraz; two brothers, Carl Mraz of Daytona, Fla., and Ralph (Karen) Mraz of Rome Township; a sister, Rae Ann Kampf of Rome Township; two nieces, Laurie Beth Mraz of Cleveland and Heidi (Devin) Baumgart of Chardon; three nephews, Matthew Mraz of Kent, Thomas Mraz of Phoenix, Ariz., and Michael Mraz of New York, N.Y.; and his loving companion, Gwendolyn Estok.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie, and his twin brother, Daniel Mraz.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31st, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Sandy Seaton-Todd, of the Orwell North Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Calling Hours will be held Friday, July 30th, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
