CONNEAUT — Louise Sisson Whitney, born in Franklin Center, Pa., August 31, 1915, died Feb. 7, 2013, at the age of 97 1/2, at Lake Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Conneaut, Ohio.
She was the seventh of nine children born to the late Walter Delton “Dell” and Gertrude Anderson Sisson, and was the last surviving sibling. Upon graduating from Fairview High School, she married Joseph Whitney in 1936. After the birth of her first son, Alan, the family moved to Conneaut, Ohio, where she lived the rest of her life.
In earlier years, Louise was an active member of Conneaut First Baptist Church, serving on several boards, committees, and attending the adult Sunday School and a women’s circle for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Colonists.
Her interests included her church, sewing, collecting antiques with her older sister, Mary, being with family, and hosting large family dinners, traveling, and family history.
She is survived by her son, Alan of Conneaut; four grandchildren, Elise (Allen) Bishop, Joe Whitney, Craig (Lisa) Whitney, and LeTishia (Maria) Whitney; three great-grandchildren, Cooper and Addie Bishop and Craig Whitney; and a great-great granddaughter, Dahlia Whitney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Whitney in 1992; her son, Craig L. Whitney in 2011; six sisters, Grace Scott, Ethel Voss, Hazel Payne, Mary Miller, Helen Stoner and Alice Kuzma; and two brothers, Ross and Earl Sisson.
Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 20th, MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
