BERLIN, Pa. — Donalda Katheleen Sokolowski, age 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her residence with her loving family at her side.
The daughter of Harold and Henrietta (Haines) Crawford, she was born in Corry, Pa., on Nov. 1, 1929. She is the beloved widow of Joseph Anthony Sokolowski who died in 1954.
A talented person, she loved to crochet afghans and give them to her family and friends. A lover of animals, she felt that we should care for all of God’s creatures. Donalda was never shy about expressing her feelings; she at times was not tactful in telling you her thoughts. But, you always knew how she felt. Donalda was an independent person who believed that women could do anything.
She had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was always interested in their activities.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Sokolowski of Ashtabula, John (Mike Vosser) Sokolowski of Davenport, Iowa, Wallace Sokolowski and Donalda “Davina” (Guadalupé) Rodrigues, both of Ashtabula; grandsons, Anastacio, David, Luis and José Velazquez, Jason and Garrison Jones, and Michael Sokolowski; seven great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Gary Jones of Warren; brothers, Harold (Dot) Crawford of Corry, Pa., and Wallace (Mary) Ehrhart of Union City, Pa.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Anthony; her daughter, Alice Jones; and her son, William Loggins; and her parents.
Calling Hours will be observed from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13th, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband.
