SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Judy Griesmar Rogers, age 60, of Lake Road West, was born on June 16, 1952. She died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home.
Judy Griesmar Rogers saw the beauty in each day, whether it was raining, snowing or overflowing with sunshine. She spent most of her youth barefoot, simply so that she could experience a direct connection with the earth. As an adult, there was nothing more important to Judy than sharing time with her two children, Ty and Randi, and their families. She adored her grandchildren with unrivaled passion.
She cherished living in her Ashtabula condo, where she could walk down to the beach anytime to watch the mercurial Lake Erie or savor a sunset. Judy also loved yoga, hiking and traveling, often with her close friend and adventure buddy, June Vendetti. Listening to Bruce Springsteen, whom she saw in concert numerous times, was another favorite pastime.
Judy was always there to help her family and friends, often reaching out to mentor younger people she met who needed guidance or just a gentle listener. People were quickly drawn to her effervescence, beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
For the past 26 years, Judy was the Fitness Director at Glenbeigh Hospital of Rock Creek, Ohio, where she worked hard to help troubled people recover their health and their lives. She attended Kent State University in the early 1970s. She obtained her Certification as a Reiki Master from Lakeland Community College in January of 2003 which enabled her to bless many people.
Judy lived a full life, complete with laughter and sorrow, including the loss of her own mother, Millie Griesmar, 95, just three weeks ago. She leaves a legacy of kindness, compassion and love that will be her greatest tribute, her greatest gift, and one that will sustain her children, grandchildren and all those who loved her and knew her love.
Judy is survived by her children, Ty (Tica) Rogers and Randi (Jeff) Morris; grandchildren, Vance, Mackenzie, Blake and Gage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacques and Mildred Griesmar; her brother, Jacques Jr.; and her beloved dog, “Sophie”.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 14th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with Ty C. Rogers leading the service.
Calling Hours will be held TODAY, Thursday, Dec. 13th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Glenbeigh Development Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 298, Rock Creek, Ohio 44084, envelopes will also be at the Funeral Home.
