CLEVELAND — Atira Nicole Colbert, age 13, of Jefferson Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Rainbow’s Babies and Children’s Hospital.
She was born May 25, 1999, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Telisa Colbert and Eddie Davis and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 4-year member of Girl Scouts of America, Troop #80369 of Jefferson, she loved animals and attending the Ashtabula County Fair to visit the 4-H booths. She could be seen often at many Jefferson sporting events cheering for her favorite Falcons.
Atira loved music, and even became a country music fan with Scotty McCreery being her favorite. Her contagious smile and big dimples could change anybody’s mood. A diva in her own right, she was known to many doctors and nurses by her crazy socks.
Her family is both grateful and proud that she was able to offer the gift of life and sight to others by being an organ donor.
Her survivors include her mother, Telisa Colbert of Ashtabula; her father, Eddie Davis of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Terrin Colbert and her twin, Alexea Colbert, both of Ashtabula; one brother, Ricky Brye of Louisville, Ky.; her grandfather, Eddie Colbert; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Catherine Colbert.
Also, a very special thanks to her devoted nurse, Tracey Beckwith, and husband, William, and their children, Bailey, Billy and Bodey, who became her second family, and to the many therapists, doctors and nurses Atira has had in her life.
A service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7th, at the Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, 923 East 16th St., Ashtabula. The Rev. Mitchell Jones, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
