Sally A. Dulak

ASHTABULA — Sally A. Dulak (nee Toukonen), age 69, of Burlingham Drive, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from complications of Parkinson’s  disease.

She was born Oct. 2, 1943, in Conneaut, the daughter of Reino and Grace (Stone) Toukonen and had been a lifelong area resident. On July 17, 1982, Sally married Robert Dulak at St. Joseph Church in Ashtabula. A graduate of Jefferson High School, Sally earned her Bachelor’s Degree and did graduate studies in Physical Education at Kent State University. During her college years, she lettered in basketball and field hockey.

Sally taught Physical Education at Geneva High School where she also coached varsity girls basketball and softball.

Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her loving husband and sons. Family gatherings were extremely special in her life. Sally was very devoted to her extended family. Her many interests also included traveling, athletics, music, concerts, drama, impressionist art, walking, reading, gardening, baking, and being involved in many aspects of St. John and Paul Elementary and High Schools, and St. Joseph (Our Lady of Peace) Church activities.

Her survivors include her devoted husband of 30 years, Robert; two beloved sons, Eduard and Vladimir Dulak, both of Ashtabula; seven siblings whom she adored, Karen (the late Arthur) Humphrey of Newport, Mich., Julia (Ken) Schmell of Centre Hall, Pa., Dale (Meg) Toukonen of Williamsfield, James (Terri) Toukonen of Jefferson, Eric (Lexine) Toukonen of Urichville, Ohio, Alex Toukonen of Jefferson and Elizabeth Toukonen of Jullian, Pa.;  her dear aunt, Cecelia Toukonen of Jefferson; 12 nieces and nephews; and a score of great and great-great nieces and nephews whom she also dearly loved.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph Worship Site, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Ernesto Rodriguez presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23rd, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
