GENEVA — Raymond D. Kuhar, age 86, a resident of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Rae-Ann Geneva Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 18, 1926, in Geneva, he was a son of the late Mary (Poje) and Anton Kuhar. On May 15, 1947, he married Doris Spade in Geneva. Ray was a 1944 graduate of Platt R. Spencer High School where he was captain of the basketball team and president of his class. A Veteran, Ray served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years and was a plankowner of the USS Noah DD#841.
Raymond worked for Geneva Metal Wheel for 28 years and retired from the Geneva Post Office.
He was a lifetime member of the Geneva V.F.W. #6846, Geneva Eagles #2243, Madison Legion #112 and a member of the Lettermans’ Club. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, watching westerns and playing cards, especially the Tuesday afternoon poker games.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Kuhar of Geneva; sons, Donald Kuhar of New Port Richey, Fla., and James (Becki) Kuhar of Ashtabula; daughters, Carol (Jon) Holloway of Geneva and Kathryn (Jack) McFeely of Mentor; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Charles Novak, and Roy Kuhar; and sisters, Emily Novak and Mildred Barber.
Graveside Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 16th, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rt. 84, in Geneva.
