ASHTABULA — Russell Aaron Potter, age 44, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Okla.


He was born Nov. 5, 1965, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of George and Mildred (Prosser) Potter and had been a life-long area resident.


A 1984 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he had been employed by Delta Railroad for twenty-six years. Russell considered the staff and employees of Delta an extension of his family.


Hunting and fishing were his passion. His favorite fishing spots were the Ashtabula River or Conneaut Creek. When hunting, he enjoyed the quietness of the woods. He and his wife, Lisa, also enjoyed taking road trips to casinos. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs, “Hobo” and “Clyde” and his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles was a hobby he shared with his brothers. Russell will always be remembered as a good husband, wonderful father and friend.


He is survived by his wife, Lisa (Hall) Potter, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage; his children, Jessica Potter and her fiancé, Lee Scheanon, and Aaron Potter, both of Ashtabula; sisters, Mary Jo (Tommy) Jackson of Ashtabula, Nancy (Joe) Rockwell of Austinburg and Sandra (Bruce) Campbell of Ashtabula; brothers, Greg (Tamara) Potter of Ashtabula, Gary (Lydia) Potter and Bradley (Cheryl) Potter, both of Conneaut and Billy (Marijo) Green of Cherryville, N.C.; his mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Elisabeth Hall of Ashtabula; his sister-in-law, Carol Holbrook of Kingsville; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, George Potter and Mildred Baumgardner.


A Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17th, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.


Calling Hours will be at the Funeral Home from 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 17th, until the time of the Service.
