JEFFERSON — Mildred B. Oliver, age 93, of St. Rt. 46 North, Jefferson, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 3, 2010, at Jefferson Healthcare Center, where she had been a patient the past four weeks.
She was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Star Junction, Pa., the daughter of Calvin and Hazel (Brewer) Myers and had lived in Jefferson since 1975, previously living in Concord Township. She was married to Thomas D. Oliver on July 20, 1960 in Warren.
She and her late husband owned and operated TOD Thin Brushes, Inc., retiring in 2005. Mrs. Oliver was a member of the Lenox Federated Church and former member of Bible Baptist Church. She stayed busy with gardening, cooking, crocheting and reading. Much time was spent with her dogs, “Sandy, Pepper and Jack”. She enjoyed telling stories of her life experiences, especially her work as a Postmistress and working in the coal mine company store in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include three children, Nancy J. (Albert H.) Bonnema of Painesville, Susan J. Oliver and Michael R. Oliver, both of Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Oliver of Columbus; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Sweitzer and Claudette Young, both of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas in 1997; a son, Thomas D. Oliver Jr. in 2005; and a brother, William Myers.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 15th, at the Lenox Federated Church, 2628 Lenox-New Lyme Road, Jefferson, with Pastor Kenneth Zaebst officiating. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield.
No calling hours will be observed.
