KINGSVILLE — Josephine A. Butts, age 86, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Thursday, August 9, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville, Ohio.
Josephine was born on August 17, 1925, in Conneaut, the daughter of Michael and Angeline (Bartone) Castrilla. She was a 1944 graduate of Conneaut High School.
Josephine was an office worker at the former Astatic Corporation in Conneaut and later moved to Miami, Fla., in 1958. She was the manager and operator of Archie’s Restaurant in Miami, which was owned by the Miami Dolphins quarterback, Bob Griese, and later she was self-employed as the owner/operator at Harlow’s Restaurant in Miami.
Following her retirement, she came back to the Conneaut area in 1986 and married her late husband, Wilber Butts, on August 29, 1994.
She was a member of St. Mary/St. Frances Cabrini Parish and the Cara Mia Club. She enjoyed traveling and especially spending time with her family.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilber Butts in 2000; three sisters, Helen Colucci, Mary Lyons and Margaret “Maggie” Norris; three brothers, Joseph, Albert and Felix Castrilla; and her son-in-law, George Green.
Josephine is survived by two sons, Rauol “Corky” (and Rita) Erdman of Conneaut and Van Lee Erdman Carr of Conneaut; her daughters, Cindy Green of Greer, S.C., Anna Marie (and Reid) Porter of Lake City, Pa., and Kathy (and David) Hoyt of Greer, S.C.; step-sons, Wilber Butts Jr. and Dennis (and Sandy) Butts; a sister, Delores English Briel; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Neal Bonavia; and her dear friend, Millie Dolbow.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, August 13th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14th, at St. Mary Church, 480 Mill St., Conneaut, with Father Philip Miller, of St. Mary/St. Frances Cabrini Parish, as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut.
