ALBION, Pa. —
David P. Blood, age 76, of Fairview Manor and formerly of Albion, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born July 8, 1936, in Conneautville, a son of the late Paul and Helen (Goodenow) Blood. David grew up in Springboro and graduated from Conneaut Valley High School. He served with the United States Army.
David worked at RMI (Reductive Metals, Inc.) in Ashtabula, Ohio for 28 years. He also worked for Macy’s in Erie, Pa. for over 15 years. Throughout his life David was always a busy man.
He was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield where he was a Deacon for many years and also the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was an avid fisherman, which included tying his own flies. He was an avid sports fan, constantly cheering for the Cleveland Browns and the Boston Red Sox. He loved music and his pets, but his main priority was always his grandchildren and anything they were involved with.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife of 48 years, Rosalie C. (Eagley) Blood, whom he married June 17, 1961; and two sisters, Mary Williams and Judy Blood.
He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Barton and her husband, Keith, of West Springfield and Jeannette Blood of Albion; three grandchildren, Aaron Barton, Rachael Wishart and her husband, Jacob and Adam Barton; one great-granddaughter, Emmalynn Cora Wishart; one brother, Gary Blood of Albion; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Calling Hours will be held at the Federated Church, 11995 Main St., East Springfield, on Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service there at 6 p.m., with Pastor Dr. Ed Huntley officiating. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, 11959 Main St., East Springfield, Pa. 16411. The MATTERA FUNERAL HOME, 188 E.
