WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Paul Zumpft, age 93, a resident of Winter Haven, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, of natural causes.
He was born in Spartansburg, Pa., on August 29, 1919. Paul was a World War II Veteran serving 4 1/2 years from 1941-1945. He served in the Pacific Theater where he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star.
Paul lived in Conneaut, Ohio, and retired after 44 years from the City of Conneaut. He moved to Winter Haven in 1984. He was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church in Conneaut and attended Lucerne Baptist Church in Winter Haven. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2420, Lake Wales, Fla., and a member of American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven.
Mr. Zumpft was predeceased by his parents; sister, Beatrice Oehlenschlager; and brothers, Charles and Herbert Zumpft.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Crandall) Zumpft; daughter, Bonnie (Ronald) Salo of Youngstown, Ohio; granddaughters, Kelly (Salo) Richard Remias of Columbus, Ohio, and Kris (Salo) Brian Davis of Millersville, Md.; great-grandson, Brady Remias; and great-granddaughter, Abby Remias of Columbus, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22nd, at Lucerne Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
