ANDOVER —
William L. Nugent, age 80, died on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on August 22, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Elizabeth (Wurstner) and William D. Nugent.
Mr. Nugent served proudly in the United States Navy for eight years, with three of those years on the U.S.S. Missouri during the Korean Conflict. He then served in the United States Air Force for twelve years with duties in Vietnam and Thailand and retired as a Staff Sergeant. On March 24, 1957, he married Barbara I. Zimmerer.
He worked as an electrical technician for Bud Industries of Willoughby for over twenty-five years. Mr. Nugent was a member of the former Andover V.F.W. He enjoyed boating, woodworking, going to local stockcar races, going camping and he was an avid fan of NASCAR.
Survivors include his daughter, Robin L. (James) Wozniak of Austinburg, Ohio; two sons, W. Kevin (Donna) Nugent of Cherry Valley, Ohio and Jamie L. (Linda) Nugent of Willoughby, Ohio; a sister, Linda Jacobs of Negaunee, Mich.; eight grandchildren; Heather, Janis, Theresa, Christopher, Angela, Cameron, James and Maclane; and one great-grandchild, Mica, with another great-granddaughter due very soon.
Mr. Nugent is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of forty-eight years, Barbara; and an infant granddaughter, Kateri Nugent.
Calling Hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14th, at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio. Private burial will take place in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
