MADISON — Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Marjorie (Hopkins) Stewart Thomas, age 86, of Madison, Ohio, will be 12 p.m., Noon, Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at First Church Congregational, 22 Liberty St., Painesville, Ohio. The Rev. Tom Cofer will officiate.
Marge passed away peacefully in her Madison home of 57 years, on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Marge worked at the Painesville Telegraph and retired as a school secretary with the Madison School District.
Marge had many creative talents and was passionate about her hobbies of writing, reading and painting. She was active in Marriage Encounter, "Wrinkled Writers", and the "Chit Chat Chicks" but nothing gave her more pleasure than enjoying time with her family. Marge was a 1944 graduate of Harvey High School and attended Baldwin Wallace College.
Survivors include sons, Michael (Michelle) Stewart, Patrick (Karen) Stewart, Jeffrey (Anita) Stewart and James (Kristine) Stewart; twin daughters, Kathi (Michael) Roe and Karen (Max) Rauer; stepdaughter, Judy Johnson; grandmother of 32; and great-grandmother of 17, with two more on the way.
Her husbands, James Stewart and George Thomas, and dear friend, John "Moose" Kaufman, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m., Noon, on Monday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060 or the Madison Public Library, 6111 Middle Ridge Road, Madison, Ohio 44057.
Marge will be laid to rest next to husband Jim Stewart at Evergreen Cemetery during a private family ceremony.
