RALEIGH, N.C. — Thomas Ward DeMay, age 60, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Mentor, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at his residence.
Born Jan. 28, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a 1970 graduate of Mentor High School.
Mr. DeMay had worked as a Walmart associate in Raleigh, N.C. He was an avid softball player, coached St. Gabriel School CYO girl’s basketball and softball teams in the late 1970’s and Mentor women’s softball teams for several years.
Survivors include his parents, Tom and Reenie DeMay of Mentor; brothers, Tim (Robin) DeMay of Florida, Jim (Kathy) DeMay of North Carolina and Mike (Sue) DeMay of Aurora; sisters, Laurie Melfi of Mentor, Mary Beth (George) Nieves of Texas, Anne (David) Michniuk of North Carolina and Susan (Jason) Harvard of North Carolina; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick DeMay and grandparents, Harry and Frances DeMay and Ward and Anne Leahy.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26th, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25th, at BRUNNER SANDEN DEITRICK FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060.
