BRISTOLVILLE —
Earl L. Smith, age 74, of Bristolville, passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Care Center after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Richman, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond L. Smith and the late Violet Hall Smith.
Earl retired from WCI in 1993 and was a member of the Bristolville Church of the Brethren.
He enjoyed hunting and solving different kinds of puzzles. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Duncan Smith, whom he married on July 16, 1957; two sons, Donald (Paula) Smith of Bristol and Raymond (Dora) Smith of Cherry Valley; four daughters, Karen (Gregory) Porter of Greene, Brenda (Donald) Boyles of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Lorrie Hurst of Champion and Pamela (Thomas) Cunningham of Bristol; brother, Ernest (Lois) Smith of Mecca; sister, Patricia Holden of Florida; and two step-brothers, Jim (Carol) Smith of Warren and Richard (Ina) Smith of Antwerp. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Levelle and Lisa Smith.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1st, at SHAFER-WINANS FUNERAL CHAPEL in Cortland.
Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristol.
