EAST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. —
Dayton E. Devine Jr., of East Springfield, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Feb. 4, 2012, at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard, where he had been recently residing.
Dayton was born March 21, 1936, the son of Dayton E. and Nellie (Cole) Devine Sr., in Erie, Pa.
He worked hard for many years sailing on the Great Lakes and also Zurn Industries. Dayton was a member of the Springfield Vol. Fire Dept. and enjoyed music, playing the guitar, art, nature, people and his grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all.
Dayton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary (Peggy) Stefanelli Devine; three sons, David Devine and his friend, Sharon, Edward Devine and his wife, Cindy and Charles Devine; and daughter, Elesia (Lisa) Glasser and her husband, Dennis Sr. He is also survived by three sisters, Rose Zimmer and her husband Bernie and Joyce Brown and her friend, Richard and Linda Farley and her husband, Lee; his special grandchildren, Dennis, Jr. and Autumn Glasser and Josh, Hannah, Brenna, Charlie and Lillie Devine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and Family are invited to call from 2 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7th, at JEAN EVANS THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa. and are invited to attend a Life Celebration Service at the Federated Church on Wednesday, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ed Huntley, officiating.
The family of Dayton would like to the thank the Staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor for all their care and compassion during Dayton’s stay there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
