ASHTABULA — Milan M. Wallo, age 88, of Ashtabula, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2009, at the St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake, following an extended illness.


He was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Harmarville, Pa., the son of Martin and Elizabeth (Otetka) Wallo and has resided in Ashtabula much of his life. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II.


Mr. Wallo owned and operated Wallo Gas & Oil in Ashtabula for many years before retiring in 1986.


He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the Redbrook Boat Club where he served in many offices, including Commodore and Fleet Captain. His love was boating and fishing.


Survivors include three children, Michael Wallo of Yorba Linda, Calif., Matthew Wallo of New Orleans, La. and Nancy Purdy of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a step-daughter, Laura Musser of Avon; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Penny Satler of Chapel, Pa. and Ann Balog of Pittsburgh, Pa.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret; his second wife, Loretta; two brothers, Gus and John Wallo; and a sister, Mildred Calarie.


No services are scheduled at this time.
