KINGSVILLE — Lillian D. Heinonen, age 94, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Sunday evening, Nov. 15, 2009, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville, Ohio.
Born Sept. 25, 1915, in Weirton, W.Va., she was the daughter of David and Hilma Alvena (Leppanen) Laatu.
Mrs. Heinonen was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed cooking, baking and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Carl J. Heinonen of Conneaut; two daughters, Dolores (Dick) Pelow of Conneaut and Nancy Altman of Albion, Pa.; two sons, Carl (Cheryl) Heinonen and David Heinonen, both of Conneaut; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ina Paavola and Lempi Ceeder; two brothers, Toivo Laatu and Edward Laatu; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Heinonen; and her son-in-law, Wayne G. Altman.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18th, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Road and Grove St., Conneaut, Ohio, with the Rev. Franklin J. Gore officiating.
Friends may call TODAY, Tuesday, Nov. 17th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, from 6 to 8 p.m.
