GENEVA — Dorothy H. Witt, age 88, a resident of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Geneva.


Born Jan. 28, 1921, in Geneva, Ohio, the daughter of Caroline Wilhelmina (Fanslau) and John Carl Witt.


Dorothy retired as a bookkeeper from Carlisle-Allen Co. in Ashtabula.


She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. She was recently honored as the oldest surviving graduate of Spencer School at the 46th Annual Grape Jamboree. She worked at True Temper in Geneva during World War II and also at Geneva Savings and Loan for several years. She loved spending time with her family and loved nature.


She is survived by two brothers, Richard J. Witt of El Paso, Texas and Walter H. (Kathryn) Witt of Geneva; sister-in-law, Lillian A. Witt of Madison; a niece, Lisa A. (Gary) Schaller of Madison; nephews, John P. Witt of Madison, Richard E. Witt of Washington, D.C. and Herb W. (Gina) Witt of Madison; and two great-nephews, Bryant Fasula of California and Dakota Witt of Geneva.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edwin F. Witt; and niece, Caroline Fasula.


Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 9th, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 811 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio, with the Rev. Jonathan Schroeder, officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.


Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8th, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva and also from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Monday, at the Church.
