ASHTABULA – Everett L. “Punkin” Pratt, age 74, of W. 41st St., died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.


He was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Cabin Creek, W.Va., the son of Joe and Julia (Bernath) Pratt and had been an Ashtabula resident most of his life.


Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Ashtabula Township Road Department.


A proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he belonged to the VFW Post #943, the Army-Navy Union, the American Legion #103 and Ashtabula Eagles Club.


Punkin enjoyed gardening, canning peppers to give to his close friends, and watching his grandchildren and attending their activities. He was also an active volunteer for the Ashtabula Area Little League from 1968 to 1979.


His survivors include three children, Mary Virginia “Jenny” Pratt of Madison, Steven Douglas (Kelly) Pratt Sr. and Eric Lee (Barbara) Pratt, both of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, Danielle Nicole and Steven Douglas Jr., Sierra Lashae, Nathaniel Eric and Leah Rose Pratt, Dennis Klingler and Sharee McClintic; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Chase McClintic; brothers, Joe “Little Joe” Pratt of Nitro, W.Va., Charles “Pretty” Pratt of St. Petersburg, Fla., Manuel D. “Pablo” Pratt of Conneaut, Lewis “Pookie” (Barbara Ann) Pratt of Ashtabula and Michael (Mary Carmen) Pratt of Michigan; and sisters, Carmella (Frank) Vegh of Ashtabula and Doma (Gene) Hearn of Point Pleasant, W.Va.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia June Pratt on April 12, 1990; brother, Dallas Pratt; sister, Rovenna (Mae) Lambert; and his parents.


A Service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7th, at the DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.


Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday at the Funeral Home.
