CONNEAUT — Velma F. Landis, age 75, of Monroe Township, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at University Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center.


She was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Given, W.Va., the daughter of Luther and Ivy (Braham) Rhoades.


She was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church and the East Plymouth Grange. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and spending time with her family.


Surviving her are three children, Barbara Nuzum of Conneaut, Joseph (Cheryl) Landis of Ashtabula and David Landis of Kingsville; six grandchildren, Diane, Lacey, Kevin, Lori, Shelly and Ron; six great-grandchildren, Mia, Russell, Bradley, Brandy, Isaiah and Eligia; three brothers, Ernest Rhodes of St. Louis, Mo., Leon Rhodes of Ripley, W.Va. and James Rhodes of Paducah, Ky.; and four sisters, Marie Green of Ripley, W.Va., Ruby Parson of Evans, W.Va., Mae Randolph of Given, W.Va. and Hazel Randolph of Galion, Ohio.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold in 1995; and by two brothers, Luther Rhodes Jr. and Carl Rhodes.


Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Johnnie Swann, of Plymouth United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.


Calling Hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, at the Funeral Home.
