ASHTABULA — James W. Spellman, age 71, a resident of Geneva, Ohio, most of his life, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on Feb. 21, 1941, he was the son of the late George W. and Lenora M. (Mitchonie) Spellman. On June 27, 1962, he married Jane Archibald in Geneva. In 1969, he graduated from Kent State University with a masters degree in education.

James was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Retired, he was the owner of Quality Home Furnishings in Geneva for 12 years.

He was a member of Geneva Blue Lodge #334 F. & A.M. and Geneva Rotary (Paul Harris Fellow member). He liked restoring furniture, talking politics, playing cards and was an avid reader. He was a Ohio sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians and like being challenged.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane in 2006 and his parents.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
