ASHTABULA — Don Runnion, age 76, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 20, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Jan. 14, 1936, in Clay County, W.Va., he was the son of William and Esther (Riggs) Runnion. He married the love of his life, Margaret Jones, on Feb. 7, 1959.
Don retired from Springwood in 1992 as a tractor driver after 25 years of service.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, cars, trains, decorating for holidays and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret; his daughters, Sandra Dodge and Brenda (Jason) Zalimeni, both of Ashtabula and Annie (Jim) Otto of Alabama; sons, Don Jr. (Ruth), Robert (MaryAnn) and Michael Runnion, all of Ashtabula; sisters, Annie Taylor of Webster County, W.Va., Lucy Slate of Ashtabula and Shanet “Twinkle” Dodge of Ashtabula; brothers, Harry (Cheryl) Runnion of West Virginia and Larry and Calvin Runnion, both of Ashtabula; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Runnion and Marcelene Fyock; brother, Okey Runnion; and son-in-law, Nelson Dodge.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 25th, at DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Larry Emery officiating. Burial will follow at Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling Hour will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
