MORGAN TOWNSHIP — Sophie Faye Ecko, age 93, was born March 28, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio, and passed away on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her daughters home.


She was the daughter of the late John and Suzi (Agneti) Hovanec and was married to Joseph Sieckowski on Jan. 3, 1948.


Sophie was a founding member of the Sacred Heart Church in Rock Creek during the 1950’s and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the church for many years. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress, winning several awards for her endeavors. She retired from Reliance Electric in 1979.


She is survived by three daughters, Dawn Bleau of Rock Creek, Linda (Jerry) Paulus of Madison and Mary (Eli) Hostetler of Rock Creek with whom she had been living; four grandchildren, John and Brian Bleau, Nicholas Paulus and Annie Hostetler; and three great-granddaughters, Lexi, Ava and Mady Bleau.


Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sieckowski, who died Jan. 13, 1959; her parents; two brothers, George who passed away as an infant and Andy Hovanec who died in W.W. II; and three sisters, Anna Bodnar, Helen LaMar and Mary Wiley.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, at Sacred Heart Church, 3409 N. Main St., Rock Creek, Ohio 44048, with the Rev. David Weikart as celebrant.


Visitation will be held at the church hall on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
