STOW — Elizabeth Faye (McQuay) Toukonen, age 88, of Stow, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010.


Born Feb. 3, 1921, to Frank and Gladys (Hill) McQuay in Driftwood, Pa., Faye married Martin Toukonen on Oct. 12, 1940, at the Ebenezer Church in Buffalo, N.Y.


A graduate of Gardenville High School and the School of Evangelism, Faye was a licensed minister.


She organized a jail ministry, was a Christian speaker, a Bible study teacher, and a past president of the Women’s Aglow of Ashtabula. She was also a published writer and poet, and a member of the Poet’s Nook.


She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Linda Lee; three brothers; and two sisters.


Surviving are sons, John Toukonen and Mark Toukonen; daughters, Anita (William) McCloud and Amy (Richard) Volanski; six grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; and one great-grandson.


A previous member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, Faye joined the River of Life Church in Hudson upon moving to Stow. Her encouragement, loving way and beautiful smile will be missed by her family and friends.


Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 4th, at the Plymouth United Methodist Church, 970 Plymouth Road, Plymouth Township, with the Rev. Johnnie F. Swann, Pastor of the church, and the Rev. Joe Daltorio, of The River of Life Church of Hudson, Ohio, officiating. Burial will follow services at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.


Calling Hours will be held Wednesday evening, Feb. 3rd, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the CHILDS & WILLIAMS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1440 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula and Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.


Memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth United Methodist Church or The River of Life Church. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home and church.
