STRUTHERS — Edward Lawrence, age 88, of Struthers, Ohio, died on Sunday July 15, 2012, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland, Ohio.
Born April 3, 1924, in Pulaski, Pa., he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Gulas Lawrence.
A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the European Theatre and received three Bronze Stars. Edward worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and LTV Steel, as a Tallyman in the Bar Mill Shipping Department.
He was a member of Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and was a Bee Keeper.
He is survived by his sons, Dennis Lawrence of Jefferson, Edward Lawrence of Marion, Iowa, Ronald (Diane) Lawrence of North Canton; three brothers, Pete Lawrence and George Lawrence, both of Pulaski, Pa., and Michael Lawrence of Florida; four grandchildren, Jessica Cook, Matthew, Brittany and Marc Lawrence; and two great-grandchildren, Landen and Ailyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Kodash Lawrence, whom he married June 26, 1948, she died July 27, 2007; and four brothers, Albert, Joseph, Paul and Samuel Lawrence.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday, July 19th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at KIRILA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers, Ohio.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday July 20th, at KIRILA FUNERAL HOME, INC. and at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
