JEFFERSON —
Goldie Jean Smith, age 56, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully Monday, August 6, 2012, at her home.
She was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Rock Camp, W.Va., the daughter of John and Margie (Martin) Donathan and had lived in Ashtabula County most of her life.
A Jefferson High School graduate, Goldie was a Repair Technician at CRT where she worked refurbishing airplane parts. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved to bowl, fish and garden. She was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan and would always say, “There is always next year.”
Her survivors include her daughters, Kelly (Jesse) Ludwick and Candy (Jeff) Shelott, both of Jefferson; son, Larry “J.R.” (Cassie) Smith of Ashtabula; grandchildren, JJ and Harley Ludwick, Sierra Hall, Austin Smith and Jeffrey “Bubby” Shelott Jr.; brothers, John Wayne and Kenneth Donathan, both of Ashtabula; sisters, Hattie Mae Hills of Ashtabula, Thelma Lazanis of North Kingsville and Mary Jo Donathan of Jefferson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hershel Donathan; and sister, Abby Donathan.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, August 10th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio with Roger Zale, Spiritual Care Coordinator of Hospice of the Western Reserve, officiating. Inurnment will follow at Denmark Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time of Service, Friday, at the Funeral Home. In keeping with Goldie’s “laid-back” style; the family ask that you dress casually to celebrate her life.
