CONNEAUT —
Virginia V. “Ginny” Humphreys, age 88, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Saturday morning, July 28, 2012, at Lake Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 26, 1924, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the daughter of Addie and Donna (Fizer) Hiles.
A Conneaut resident for most of her life, Ginny had been a cook at the former Jones Diner, Henny Penny and primarily at the Main Restaurant. She was a former member of the Conneaut Moose Club, and enjoyed country music, bird watching and crocheting. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking, and had assisted her daughter, Vickie Marcy, with her cooking show on cable access TV for four years
Survivors include four daughters, Vickie (Lloyd) Marcy of Conneaut, Bunny Lindsey of Conneaut, Donna Burr of Arizona and Gertrude (Dave) Young of Chillicothe, Ohio; six sons, Don (Mimi) Humphreys, Bob (Bonnie) Humphreys, George (Linda) Humphreys and Carl (Gloria) Humphreys, all of Conneaut, Michael (Donna) Humphreys of Louisiana, and Steven (Rose) Humphreys of Harpersfield, Ohio; two sisters, Freda Krieder and Shirley Caplinger, both of Chillicothe, Ohio; her brother, Dewey Hiles of Michigan; 37 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and more distant relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald C. Humphreys; three sisters, Sharon Clary, Kathleen Alexander and Irma Moates; a brother, Robert Hiles; a granddaughter, Lisa Elizabeth Carlson; two grandsons, Tim Natto and Morgan Henretta; and two great-grandsons, Derrick Rivers and Simon Schreiber.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 31st, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with Pastor Bob Taraziak, of Foursquare Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of Service, Tuesday, at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
