KINGSVILLE —
Laura Elnora Miner (nee Simons), age 94, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Epsyville Station, Pa., the daughter of Donald and Vera (Britton) Simons. The Simons’ family ancestors were early settlers in Epsyville where Laura grew up along with her 7 siblings. Laura married Dane Miner of Andover, Ohio, in 1941, the two were married for 66 years until Mr. Miner’s death in 2007.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kent M. Miner in 1996.
Survivors include her daughter, Noreen (Jim) Raney of Foley, Ala.; son, Dennis Miner of Ashtabula; grandsons, Kent (Shannon) Miner Jr. of Perry and Matthew Miner of Fairport Harbor; four beautiful great-grandchildren, Kathleen D. Miner, 12; Cassidy R. Miner, 7; Madison M. Miner, 5; and McCaylah, 4; daughter-in-law, Judy Miner of Ashtabula; a sister, Beryl Swisher of Lancaster, Pa.; and many other loving family members and friends.
Laura’s daughter wishes to express her gratitude to the nurses, aides and staff at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home for the most wonderful and compassionate care given to her mother. Laura was treated with exceptional care and dignity during her brief stay.
Honoring Laura’s wishes there will be no services. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens beside her husband, Dane at a later date.
