CLEVELAND —
Maria Assunta (DiLemme) Bernardo passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.
She was born August 14, 1923 and raised in Isernia, Italy and graduated from Il Collegio Francesco Amatuzio where she was educated by the Sisters of Le Discepole di Gesu' Eucaristico and gained her elementary teaching degree.
She was one of six children born to the late Angelo DiLemme and Antimina (Avicoli) DiLemme and was the beloved and treasured wife of the late Raffaele Angelo Bernardo. Maria Assunta will forever be remembered by her family: her beloved children, Maria, Anne and Ralph Anthony; and those that she loved as her children, Kenneth Farona and Paul Zaepfel; her treasured grandchildren, Kenny and Dora Farona; her loving brothers, the late Guy DiLemme (Antonietta), the late Carmine DiLemme (Lucia), John DiLemme (AnnaMarie), Vince DiLemme (Marie); her loving sister, the late Anna DiLemme Rampini; along with her loving nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Maria Assunta loved cooking, playing the piano, singing, listening to opera, writing poetry, laughing and being with her family, and spending time in prayer. She touched the lives of many people with her smile, hospitality, warm and generous heart, and above all with her love and devotion for the Lord.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5th, at DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, Mayfield Road, Mayfield Heights.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6th, at St. John of the Cross Parish in Euclid. Private interment.
The family suggest donations be made in Mrs. Bernardo’s name to St. John of the Cross Liturgical Fund.
