KINGSVILLE — Shirley Mae (Sutton) Hodgkinson, age 71, formerly of W. 48th St., Ashtabula, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born August 27, 1938, in Corry or Spartansburg, Pa., the daughter of James and Alice (Bates) Sutton and had been an Ashtabula resident for over 50 years.
A 1956 graduate of Spartansburg High School, she previously worked for Channel Products in Jefferson.
She attended Prospect Presbyterian Church for many years and enjoyed shopping, working, country music (especially Randy Travis) and being a homemaker. A great cook, she was known for adding a little sugar to everything.
Her survivors include two children, Valerie (John) Kennedy of Lady Lake, Fla. and William T. Hodgkinson Jr. of Conneaut; seven grandchildren, Heather, Adie, Kimberly, Kayla, Tabitha, Nicole and Corey; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Joshua, Samantha, Codi and Joseph; four sisters, Janet (Sutton) Bailey of Wickliffe, Judy (Sutton) Ritcher of Spartansburg, Pa., Patricia (Sutton) Hodgkinson of Ashtabula and Katherine “Mimi” Sutton of Corry, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Hodgkinson Sr.; her daughter, Rhonda Manniko; two half-sisters, Jackie (Culver) Green and Charmagne (Culver) Morton; one half-brother, Richard Culver; and her parents.
A Service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20th, at ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Marvin Blowers, Pastor of Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N. Kingsville.
A Visiting Hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Funeral Home.
