ASHTABULA — John Hamilton Vaughan, age 45, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Country Club Retirement Center.

He was born August 28, 1963, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of George and Darlene (Dickey) Vaughan and had been an area resident most of his life. He attended the Ashtabula Area City Schools and was proud and excited to be scheduled for delayed entry into the U.S. Marine Corps when he was involved in a debilitating car accident.

He had been employed as a dispatcher for several taxi and transportation services over the years.

John enjoyed the outdoors, loved cars (especially muscle cars) and cheered for the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed going to concerts and was a big fan of the 80’s metal bands.

He loved everyone and especially loved being with his nieces, nephews and friends. Despite his limitation and the pain he was in, he faced every day with a smile and stayed as active as possible. An inspiration to others, many said he gave more to them than they could ever give to him.

His survivors include his mother, Darlene J. Vaughan of Ashtabula; three brothers, Vince (Francis) Vaughan of Garner, N.C., Greg (Amanda) Vaughan of Canfield and George Edward “Eddie” Vaughan Jr. of Parma, Mich.; one sister, Joy (Don) Kirkpatrick of Grass Lake, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Annabelle.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 3rd, at the family grave site in Little Laurel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Clay, W.Va. No calling hours will be held.

Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the family, in care of Little Laurel Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 155, Wallback, W.Va. 25285.
