CANFIELD — A Memorial Service will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, at LANE FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., for Thomas E. Morey, age 73, of Canfield, Ohio, who died Friday evening, July 27, 2012, at his residence.
Thomas was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Geneva, Ohio, a son of the late Jack and Beatrice Mead Morey. He was a proud 1957 graduate of Platt R. Spencer School, Geneva. Following graduation, Thomas joined the United States Air Force serving until 1963.
Thomas was a self-made successful computer programmer. He had been Vice-president of the computer department of First National Bank of Salem and then became a systems analyst for the National Cash Register Company, retiring in 2001.
Thomas enjoyed the outdoors, riding his bicycle, reading and playing games with his family. He was an avid card player and an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their extracurricular activities.
He leaves the love of his life, the former Alice Lemmons, whom he married June 26, 1959; two sons, Duane Morey and Steven Morey, both of Canfield; one daughter, Dianne (Michael) Zatvarnicky of Austintown; five grandchildren, Thomas Morey, Samantha Morey and Caleb Morey, all of Homeworth, and Kelsey Zatvarnicky and Jared Zatvarnicky, both of Austintown; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Morey of Alliance; one brother, Daniel Morey of Geneva, Ohio; and three sisters, Kathleen Woods and Sharon (Alex) Phillips, both of Ashtabula and Marie Hunt of Florida.
Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Marie Morey, and a brother, Samuel Morey. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service Saturday, August 4th, at the Funeral Home. The family requests casual dress for the services.
