ATHENS, Tenn. —
Donald Macey Smith, age 76, of Athens, Tenn., formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio and Rockridge, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
He was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Rockridge, W.Va., a son of the late Hollie Martin and Mary Belle Smith.
He was a retiree of RMI Sodium Plant in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was a loving husband and father, spending his time enjoying Blue Grass music, fishing, gardening, travel and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Marie Waldron of Jefferson, Ohio; and four brothers, Oliver Lee Smith of Lerona, W.Va., Orville Smith of Monroe, Mich., Hollie Estelle Smith of Princeton, W.Va. and Cecil Basil Smith of Chicago, Ill.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Betty of Athens, Tenn.; one son, Donald Ray Smith and wife Debbie of White House, Tenn.; three daughters, Cheryl Lynne Wilson and husband David of Douglasville, Ga. and Barbara Ann Smith and Andrea Dora Smith, both of Canton, Ga.; two grandsons, Jeffrey David Wilson and wife Jocelyn Wilson of Johns Creek, Ga. and Nicholas Adam Payne of Canton, Ga.; three sisters, Betty Jean Moore of Ashtabula, Ohio, Martha Joann Arrington and husband Roger of Avilla, Ind. and Jeanette Davis of Piedmont, S.C.; two brothers, Delbert Smith and wife Amerio Smith of Lashmeet, W.Va. and Dexter Ray Smith of Ashtabula, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25th, in the Burns Wornal Chapel of the MEMORIAL FUNERAL DIRECTORY on the Athens Road in Princeton, with Pastor Delmar Stilwell Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the Service hour on Tuesday.
