FORT MYERS, Fla. —
Charles James Eighmy, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Fort Myers, Fla. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012.
He was born Feb. 3, 1950, in Conneaut, the son of Harry and Marian (Brewster) Eighmy. Charles graduated from Conneaut High School, Class of 1969 and obtained his bachelor's degree from Heidelberg University in 1973.
Mr. Eighmy was employed with the Eighmy Corporation in Conneaut before moving to Wilmington, Del. in 1984 and spent most of his employment and active life in Delaware. While in Delaware, he was employed with J.C. Bennington as purchasing director and fleet manager for Basell IT Computers.
Charlie loved God, his family and friends and especially his grandchildren. Charles was an active member of First Alliance Church in Hockessin, Del. to include President of the church men's group. He loved sports, especially football, lover of music and enjoyed his gadgets and computers.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 20 years, Linda Eighmy; son, Chris Eckman; daughter, Marci Anderson; three step-children, Christina Diamonte, Sean Diamonte and John J. Diamonte Jr.; sister, Linda Chandler and husband, Jerry; brother, Jerry Eighmy and wife, Mary; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13th, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Corners of Buffalo and Main Sts., Conneaut, with the Rev. Stephen Salagyi officiating.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Services at 11 a.m., at the Church.
In Lieu of flowers, please remember Charles by supporting First Congregational UCC in Conneaut or the American Cancer Society in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the church. Local arrangements entrusted to THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
