SUNBURY — Mary K. Boal, age 89, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, in Country View Nursing Home in Sunbury, Ohio.

Born Jan. 16 , 1923, in Clearfield, Pa., the youngest daughter of Ralph Spencer and Alice (Merrill) Nightingale. Mary married Harold E. Boal on Oct. 9, 1942.

After leaving Clearfield, Mary and Harold lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Fairview, Pa., Erie Pa., Conneaut, Ohio, Oil City, Pa. and Centerburg, Ohio. Mary was a member of the Good Shephard Church in Conneaut and the Church of God in Oil City. Mary was very active in church activities. Mary attended the First Methodist Church in Centerburg.

Mary worked in the school cafeteria in Erie, Conneaut and Oil City. After retiring from the schools, she sold Avon products for several years in Oil City.

Mary got most of her enjoyment in life by raising her three kids, Perry, Linda and Jane Anne. Later in her life, Mary was blessed with four grandchildren, Stephanie Sarah Boal, Julie (Chris) Bates, Nick (Lisa) Shellito and Max (Amy) McCracken. Mary was blessed again with three great-grandchildren, Camryn and Chole Bates and Layla Shellito. All of the grandchildren and their kids brought huge smiles to Mary when they were together!

Survivors include her son, Perry (Arlene) Boal of Ashtabula, Linda (Brad) Shellito of Ostrander, Ohio and Jane Anne (Jeff) McCracken of Centerburg, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1988; her brother, Fred (Doris) Nightingale; and sisters, Helen (Harry) Hutchinson and Emily (Floyd) Hart.

A Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 22nd at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 637 St. Rt. 61, Sunbury, Ohio.  Burial will take place in Center Cemetery in Clearfield, Pa. at a later date.
