CONNEAUT — Charles Rockwell, age 85, beloved husband of the late Beverly Rockwell, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2012, following a nearly four year residence at the Villa on the Lake in Conneaut, Ohio.
Born July 6, 1927, the son of Charles and Olive (Harlacher) Rockwell, he was a life-long resident of Conneaut.
Chuck was a U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Cowle Post #151 and a dedicated Past Master of the Masonic Evergreen Lodge #222. He was also a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church.
Following his retirement from First Energy (CEI) in 1980, Chuck enjoyed Salmon fishing with his dog “Teddy” in the local creeks and streams. In addition, he loved when spring time arrived and he could head to the golf course with his friends. For a period of time, he especially enjoyed a summer evening motorcycle ride on the open roads of Ashtabula County.
Survivors are his three sons, Charles (Joan) Rockwell of The Villages, Fla., Thomas (Connie) Rockwell of Concord, Ohio, and Richard Rockwell of Texas City, Texas. In addition, Chuck had six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Adams), who passed away in 2003; his brother, James Rockwell; and his best friend late in life, “Teddy”, his golden retriever.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 27th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. Evergreen Lodge #222 F & AM will conduct a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home at 8 p.m.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, with Tim Kraus officiating.
Interment will follow in East Conneaut Cemetery with American Legion Cowle Post #151 providing Military Honors.
